In addition to direct care, we are committed to training and certifying the next generation of end-of-life doulas, equipping them with the knowledge and skills to offer meaningful and informed support in their communities.
Philosophy
At Sacred Rite of Passage, our philosophy centers on three core principles:
Personalizing End-of-Life Experiences
We assist individuals in planning end-of-life experiences that reflect their unique lifestyles and beliefs, ensuring authenticity and comfort.
In our process, there is a huge emphasis on integrating personal values into end-of-life planning, offering peace and fulfillment during this profound transition.
Fostering Meaningful Legacies
We guide individuals in developing legacy projects.
These can be personalized tokens or messages - to leave behind for their families, serving as enduring symbols of love and providing thoughtful closure for loved ones.
Creating a World Where Death is Honored
We empower aspiring death doulas through training and certification, and we host death cafes to remove the taboo surrounding death.
This helps in creating a safe space for individuals to feel more comfortable discussing this topic and explore the important role of end-of-life care.
My Story
Death touches us all, and my experience with my mother’s passing was a painful reminder of how important dignity is at the end of life.
After weeks in the hospital, we realized her care team lacked the humanity needed to support her final transition. When asked how much time she had left, the response was simply, "She's dying, that's all you need to know."
As a result, we were not there for her passing and her body was left unprepared for our return. Seeing her lying in a sterile hospital bed disheveled and alone broke my heart in ways I never could have imagined.
That experience stayed with me, and I vowed no one should face death like that.
Luckily, we were still able to honor part of what my mother wanted by laying her to rest near water. We celebrated her journey with a Kundalini ceremony which was not only beautiful but healing for her family and friends. This is why I am here - to offer others the dignity, care, and peace they deserve at the end of life.
